House of Secrets: A Shandra Covington Mystery House of Secrets: A Shandra Covington Mystery by Jeffrey S. Savage

My review

rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a very fun read. The topsy-turvy plot and surprises were both interesting and “catchy”. Catchy works for music, right? Why not a book?

This is the first book I have read by either Jeffrey S. Savage or J. Scott Savage. I am quite impressed that he was able to do the story in first person . . . as a girl. Jeff is definitely in touch with his feminine side.

The scene in chapter thirty-eight, where Clay kisses Shandra, and her toes curl in her shoes when he touches her makes me wonder: Did Jeff really write that, or did his wife? Perhaps Jeff actually has that affect on his wife Jennifer.

I am going to have to ask my wife, also named Jennifer, if I have that affect on her when I kiss her . . .

If not, I am going to ask for some pointers from Jeff.

  1. Hmm . . . Jeff might have some pointers for you. I think he and Jennifer only knew each other for like eight days before they got engaged, then married a short time after. He must be doing something right. 🙂

My favorite of the Shandra series is Dead on Arrival. I have to warn you though, there’s a major cliff-hanger ending. I was on an airplane and literally yelled, “No! You can’t end the book there!” I got some pretty funny looks . . .
